Hogar El Camino

Hogar El Camino, a children’s home located in Itauguá, Paraguay, is the hub of our ministry. This safe haven is dedicated to the restoration and development of children who have been legally abandoned or removed from their families due to abuse or neglect.

While many institutions care for orphaned and neglected children around the world, Hogar El Camino stands out for its commitment to placing children into a loving, Christian family. Our five homes are set on the same street on our property, making Hogar El Camino feel like a neighborhood, not an institution. Our full-time, Christian house parents care for up to six children, offering them a stable and nurturing environment. Three of these homes serve younger children, while two others support older teenagers and young adults in our Pasos (Steps) program, which helps them transition to independence by teaching life skills and personal finance.

The children at Hogar El Camino have all experienced trauma, having been removed from their families because of difficult circumstances. Despite their personal history, they find healing and hope through counseling services with our on-site psychologist, daily devotions with their house parents, and participation in local church worship services. Each child also attends our on-site private, Christian school. Older children also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through vocational training in areas such as gardening, sewing, baking, farming, and community service.

Our family-centered approach has transformed Hogar El Camino into a close-knit community. We believe that these children, who were once overlooked by society, will become the Christian leaders who will transform the future of the nation of Paraguay.

New Path Christian School

To prepare our children for a successful future, we operate New Path Christian Elementary, Middle, and High School. Our goal is to provide quality education not only for the children of Hogar El Camino, but also for those from the surrounding at-risk community.

When we opened our doors in 2011, we welcomed 65 children from the local community, alongside 30 children from our homes, ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade. By the year 2018, our enrollment had grown to almost 300 students, from preschool all the way through 12th grade.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we are able to provide a school lunch to all our middle and high school students, helping ensure they have the energy to learn.  All of our teachers are certified, Christian professionals who are passionate about not only providing quality education, but also teaching our students the importance of a relationship with Jesus Christ and the value of learning God’s Word.

In addition to academic instruction, we offer integrated Christian education. Every student participates in a weekly chapel service and daily classroom devotionals. Our middle and high school students participate in a student-led discipleship program called Agape. To further enrich their education, all students receive English classes three times each week. We offer an intensive English program for our high school students interested in reaching full English fluency.

Each year, our top two graduates are given a scholarship to attend the college of their choice in Paraguay. Today, we have some of our own graduates teaching at New Path Christian School, thanks to this scholarship program. Through a combination of quality academics and character-building, we believe we are helping to transform not just the lives of these children, but the entire community, city, and nation for the glory of God.

If you’d like to partner with us to provide education for one student, the cost is just $50 a month. For more information, email us at info@servingparaguay.org or give online.
